Abstract

Between 2020 and 2026, 29 individuals belonging to 19 bird species with chromatic alterations were found in the states of Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, and Goiás. The alterations recorded were Progressive Graying, Leucism, “Isabel” Dilution and “Pastel” Dilution. The causes and proper classification of color aberrations remain poorly understood in free-ranging birds. However, adopting the conceptual framework proposed by Grouw (2021) promotes consistency in the description of these phenomena and facilitates the technical analysis of color aberrations in wild birds in Brazil.
