About the Journal
Since its creation in 1992, the Biological Sciences course at the University of the Joinville Region has stood out within the university for its increasingly qualified faculty members and high academic output, both in research and university extension programs.
In short, the students of this course are characterized as the first recipients of the results achieved by this production, thus enhancing undergraduate education and the teaching-learning processes.
The continuous movement spearheaded by its professors in the search for answers to scientific problems encompassed by the environmental reality of the region where the university is located has led to establish important partnerships with researchers and research institutions and development at the national and international levels, culminating in competitive work published.
Another aspect related to the creation of the journal refers to the strategies of the Department of Biological Sciences in projecting onto the stricto sensu postgraduate scene, offering the community Master and Ph D's degree courses in the biological area.
As a reflection of the interaction between the productive faculty embers, partner institutions, and the scientific initiation practice of students, the university as a whole is elevated, contributing to the sustainability of its principles, values, and objectives.
The journal Acta Biológica Catarinense is ranked Qualis B3 for the four-year period 2021-2024.
